Driven thru a few times, it's a nice coastal location a good way north of Sydney I think Brisbane is even further away.

What's a decent wage? Well examine how you live now in the UK and what you consider to be decent and aim for that ... let the employer talk you down. Seriously if casual bar work pays $12/hour anything twice that might be contrued as decent (at 2,000 hours a year that's $48,000 pa Australian) and three times that would be good at $72,000 pa... that about.

In Port Maquarie you should enjoy lower housing costs than the state capitals without having to commute large distances.

Cool

Hi there, was in Port MQ about 3-4 weeks ago. We saw Dolphins in the river and ate at the Pancake Cafe.............yummie. Had a nice feel to the town, plus loads of car show rooms!

Yep, and the poorly Koalas.

Not that far from Sydney about 4-5 hours but fair distance from Brisbane

Hi there,

Try running a search on J Irons. He's living in Queensland and has a website set up but I'm sure he posted some things about your destination a while back.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I live in Taree about an hour away from Port. Port is a lovely place (very touristy). It's the fastest growing town in NSW. House prices are on the rise unfortunately - still better than the cities though, anything decent would now be $300,000 plus. Now Taree on the other hand would get you a mansion for $300,000. Good luck!
