report items missing when unpacked following their move to Australia, and I thought it might be enlightening to see in a poll rather than anecdotally how many of us were affected.

It's quite possible to *think* things have gone AWOL without this being correct - your things are unpacked sometimes many months after you last saw them, and no-one can itemise every single thing they own.

I didn't lose anything but I didn't ship a lot of stuff just 6 boxes so I was able to itemise everything so it would have been really obvious if anything was missing .

I also unpacked immediately and ticked things off on my copy of the inventory I shipped mobile phones with their chargers etc but put serial numbers on the inventory which I handed to the packers
The packers did their own inventory but they were nowhere near as detailed as mine!

Jewellery should always go in hand luggage IMHO
