Police Radar Detectors
Can you buy police radar detectors in UK to take to Aus or can you buy them in OZ.
Can't afford any more points, had 3 points added for not wearing seatbelt!!!

Now, when you get in the car, no number of police radar location devices will help you.
Now, in future, open the car, sit down and put your seatbelt on before you start the engine.
No fine to pay or points recieved.

Points for speeding I can understand but why would anyone not wear a seatbelt?

You get hammered if they catch you with radar detector get a UHF radio once you are here and the truckers tell you where they all are.

They are only legal in WA. Get a local model as they are set up for local detection systems. I have a Beltronics detector. It works very well.

Add to that the dectectors have a great deal of trouble detecting handheld laser speed-guns, which have quite a long range. Confidentially told to me by a cop years ago of about 1000m in a straight line on level ground.

Re: Police Radar Detectors
31 speed limit changes on the road through the Blue Mountains to Lithgow...about 60 kms distance. Is it any wonder people get caught out by missing a sign in the mess of the pointless signs that they put up.
What makes me really laugh, but angry as well is that when you are coming up to a major road junction or other hazard area, there will be signs that have nothing to do with the road consitions in that area...e.g on a 100 km/h road, there will be a sign like "50 kms in built-up areas unless signed otherwise". WHY?
I wonder how many points it is for moving to Oz as a road sign maker, because you will certainly make lots of money and your skills will be in demand.
Rant over for this morning and no, I've not been nicked on the Lithgow road (yet), just think it is stupid beacuse you have to spend more time watching for limit changes than for kids running out.

Re: Police Radar Detectors
Get a detector and speed as much as you can when it is safe to do so.
Traffic police are glorified revenue collectors. The current setup is nothing more than a way to collect money.

If the points are on your UK licence, what's the problem? They don't transfer them over and you'll have 12 shiny new ones to play with.
