Police checks
Has anyone had their police checks done and sent then only to be asked to "clarify" them? Hubby had bind over to keep the peace 7 years ago, it showed up on his police record and now DIMIA want to know why we didn't put this on original form BUT on the original form it asks about CONVICTIONS - hubby was never charged with anything as it didn't go to court. We are now chasing up the solicitor for a letter to explain all this as the Courts and solicitors dont keep the records after 5 years!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAARGGHHHH!!! Is someone trying to tell us we are just trying to win a losing battle? Anyone been there done that?

The bottom line however is that if it didn't go to court then it shouldn't be a 'conviction' and hence you've not told an untruth. DIMIA should know this but if they have to refer the case to the AHC London for an explanation of UK law it could well delay things.
And there's a chance that depending on the nature of the offence, it may still be a problem. Get professional advice immediately.
