Default plumbing nvq lvl 2

Hi all,
I am self employed, own tools, van, business.
I specialise as an emergency plumber working mainly for insurance company so all work is tracable. Ive never worked on site and to be honest never want to.

My qualifications are Technical certificate and nvq lvl 2 in plumbing i passed in 2007 i have references for plumbing since 2004. i have never done any gas work.

can i qualify as plumber general or should i do my level 3 in plumbing?
however if i do my level 3 does that mean my experience starts from 0 again.

I worked in Oz for 2 years with a plumbers provisional card i lived in queensland.

I also have my 17th edition, part p and level 2 in electrics and will be doing my level 3 this year. then nvq year after

I will get a container and take all my tools with me.

Thanks for your help much appreciated

Not sure what help you're after to be honest. You say you worked here for two years. When? Do you have PR? What are you asking about? Clearer info will result in clearer answers.

hi
i would try and get your nvq 3 and 6129 techcert 3 , it will help with your skills test, do you still have a prov licence in qld, if it has lapsed try and renew it online asap, the rules here have changed now and you can no longer get a prov licence without attending tafe and getting the cert 3, i think they issue a restricted prov now, basicly it says your a apprentice, i would certantly be renewing the prov before you do anything, 100 bucks a year i think. hit the immi pages for info on plumbing quals and what you need, its all changed since i did it so i cant help you there, also think about seeking prof advice from a agent, at least you will get defo answers. good luck .

I'm not in Oz but in New Zealand which looks to share the same standards.

I'm with John Knight on this one. Get your NVQ3 + 6129.

We have only just decided to come back! I am halfway through doing my Electrics and Ive just have enrolled on level 3 Electrics for this year.

I will definatley do my level 3 in plumbing year after. I dont have my card any more i will look for it and see if they will renew it but its highly unlikely i have it anymore. I will email they guy who took over my last rental place they might of sent me something.

When I have my qualifications assessed will they see my expereince as zero years? because I would of just passed my level 3 even though i passed my lvl 2 nvq and tech cert years ago and working in the trade.

The problem with the proffesionals they all seem to say yes as i feel they just want my money.

thanks for your help

your experiance will still count, you want to speak to the body that assesses plumbers, i found out tonight that whatever you do you will have to basicly become an apprentice in qld while you do this bloody upgrade course, even after that you will only have a prov licence again and you will then have to do a cert 4 in plumbing to gain a open licence, now my advice now i know this is to only do what quals you need to in the uk, so find out if a nvq 2 is enough and if so leave it at that, qld dont recognise any british quals for licenceing so just get the mininmum you need. its a bloody shame really but thats the reality of it, also id look at other states licence requirments and see if it would pay you to spend 6 months somwhere and get a licence then move to qld and transfer it, the whole plumbing thing in qld is a debacle really, lads do a 4 year app then have to do a course which costs around 5 grand and can take two years just to get a full licence, absoulute joke. money making at its best, and the course is theory based and teaches you nothing other than how to copy out of a book. any way look on the immi website, find out who assesses plumbers, (tra i think) check them out and see whats needed,
hope this helps, i have been down the pub so if the spellins a bit out sorry.

Being an electrician, I cant see you passing the electrics side of things (not sure on plumbing) with an NVQ level 2.

In the UK, I had to get my NVQ level 3 before being classed as an Electrician, also had to pass the AM2.

Hi
I havent finished my studying yet for electrics i have just enrolled on my level 3 then nvq lvl 3 year after which is site based so i can go and do my level 3 in plumbing at college.

I wont apply as an electrician to get there but i would like to do both over there plumbing/drainage and electrics.
How hard is it to transfer quals as an electrician over

Thankyou for your reply and help

I may look into Perth and see if it is any easier.
So if i get a plumbing licence from say Perth could i transfer my licence to any other state?
would NSW be the best is that the most easiest to use in all other states

Thanks for your help

So if you were sponsored before presumably you don't have a current visa?
You need to start reading through http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/ as well in that case.
