Singapore Airport has a transit hotel airside in each terminal. That means you can spend the night in the hotel without having to go through customs. In the morning you can just stroll to the departure gate .

Look for signs in the airport for the hotel or ask any of the staff milling around.

Just pack some PJs in your hand luggage. Soap and towels are provided in the hotel. (Think "Travelodge" standard.)

Here is the website, so you can have a look: http://athmg.com/ You can pay in GBP sterling. On the website it says reservation is advisable, but unless it's an exceptional day, one of the three hotels will have room.

I guess you want to get everyone to sleep, but if there is time zone funkiness and bouncy kids, there is the night safari, which is a zoo of nocturnal animals and a fab show, you can walk or go round on a little train, starts around 6.30, and there is transport back into main areas of the city. If you are around during the day the bird park is one of the most amazing things to see, the bird of prey show is really something special. Good luck with your travels

Just be aware that for all of the above, you will have to leave the airport. This means going through customs. And then on return passing through security and customs checks again. With four children on yoru own this will be a major hassle.

There's also a Marriott at the new terminal 3 which I imagine is nicer than the transit hotels, but you will have to clear customs and immigration to get to it.

What time are you landing/departing?

Thankyou,

I did not know about this. We are planning to travel via Singapore, so a six hour, plus one extra hour booking (£40 all in) will give my family time to get some sleep before carrying on our journey? The 18.30pm take off slot which lands in Singapore around 14.20pm, now looks appealing. Get to bed by 3.30pm, up at 10pm, board at 11pm, take off at 12 midnight.

Thankyou very much. Has anyone any experiences of this transit hotel, also what i am suggesting?

Suggs.

we stayed at the transit hotel on our way back to aus we had a 6 hr stop in singapore, tho we didnt sleep it was nice being able to have a shower and relax really handy as you dont have to clear customs either, and it wasnt too expensive!!

there is a pool , there is a small free cinema usually showing animated kids films, there are free xbox/ps3 areas (these are all near each other)

Clearing customs and entering / exiting Singapore proper is NO hassle - its a 10 minute exercise - singapore is rolls royce of airports forget UK or Sydney or Melbourne this is world-class at getting you in + out fast. There are no x-rays until you get to your gate to board the plane. Your bags will be checked to london so you'll only have your hand luggage to navigate.

If you exit the airport - you re looking at a 20 minute - 20$sing taxi to the city where there are abundant airconditioned shopping malls , parks, and stuff to do (but it is hot + humid) I blieve the pool at Changi is out in the air so you can get fresh air outside. there are tons of restaurants/food/shops inside the airport and if you get bored you can go between the new terminal 3 and the older t2/t1 which are where the pool is.

Changi is one of the best airports in the world - getting the hotel room will be the best thing to do - trekking to the city can be fun if you got 11 hours - chucking 2-4 hours away by going into the city for lunch/play in park will make it a real break in the flights - but if you only got 6 hrs then stay in the hotel at airpot and hang around having fun on all the free stuff.
