Default Please Help !!!

I got Australian PR through skilled migration and visited Sydney in May last year. I want to make permanent move now. Ideally, I want to secure a job from UK. Applying for job adverts on seek.com.au or mycareer.com.au doesent generate any decent response.
I am a java/j2ee/oracle developer with more than 7 years of experience.
Does anyone know any agency or website that can help me. I am willing to pay for the service.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Not much will happen until you are physically 'in-country'. Find out the names of some agencies and email them direct with your CV a couple of weeks before you arrive, stating that you WILL be available for interview as of X date.

Just submitting your details while you are in the UK won't get anywhere for IT jobs I'm afraid.

Not strictly true. My wife applied for two IT jobs and was offered both while offshore. However I think you need to have a special skill that an employer requires.

I am an Oracle Developer myself with similar experience to you. I got nowhere applying for jobs from overseas - not even a response. However from the week I had an Australian address they started responding, in fact I reapplied for some positions that ignored me previously and was offered one of them. One thing I would add is that the market (in Brisbane at least) is great at the moment, I got a job within 2 weeks of arriving in October and I got offered another position last month when I was considering moving.....

If you have any questions ask away.

Martyn

I'll second the observation that Brisbane is good for these skills at the moment, especially if you are willing to start with a short-term contract and work from there (a LOT of contractors get renewed or made permanent in my experience).

I'll also second that you'll tend to get no joy from agencies (especially agencies) if you are not in the country - once again, only in my experience.

Plenty of jobs for that combination in Perth at the moment I can assure you. Make sure you've got good XML as well.

However, my comment is the same as before - if you're not here, they won't talk to you. And yes, there will always be someone who will pop up and say 'not true', but that's what I found; that's what the agents STILL tell me and that's the concensus.
