Default Plea to parents who might have a spare Mothercare hippo

Now this is a long shot.....

Before our little daughter was born we bought her a Mothercare furry hippo.
As luck would have it, it is her favourite toy but Mothercare online have other animals in this range, but not the hippo, so we could not get a spare.....
Not a problem especially until yesterday, when a kid was throwing a big wobbly in Toys R Us, and we think only ceased when she purloined said hippo. So we are now a hippoless family.

Last night our baby woke every hour crying for hippo, and I am dreading another night like this. Don't suppose anyone here has one of these hippo lurking around?
It is grey, suitable for newborns, and has short stumpy legs filled with beans.
Happy to pay- all 3 of us just need to get a good night's sleep.

Was very confuesed til I worked out what purloined meant. Have you tried eBay. One 2 occasions my little one has lost her "tiny". Tiny is a small Tesco fluffy rabbit and like your little one, ours won't sleep without it. Anyway, one both occasions, we have managed to buy a new one.

no- nothing remotely similar on ebay.

we are trying to make a giraffe take its place but she is not being fooled.

I have asked a friend in SA for help- after all Africa is the home continent of hippos.

We had an 'otter' glove puppet from London zoo and the number of near misses we had with that bloody thing!

The worse when aged 10 (YES TEN) Kevin went on the week long trip, asked to take otter with her, we said NO he might get lost and made her leave him in the car whilst we took her and a mountain of luggage to the school gates...

Got home and guess what? No otter.... we drove back to school, searched the roads and pavements, asked at the school office with no result. We handed out leaflets with a photo in the playground and put up missing posters too. We even went to the local police station just in case some one had handed him in... We did everything we could during that week trying to find otter, but he was gone.

The return of Kevin and her class was one we dreaded, imagine picking your beloved up from the bus after a week away and having to confess that having INSISTED she leave otter with us for safe keeping.... we had lost him.

Otter was waving from the window of the coach as it drew up.... she had sneaked him into her pocket and taken him with her... bless.

I don't have a mothercare hippo, but I have a silent night hippo if thats any good....

love that story!

Mr P has been walking around with a giraffe of the same line of toys (who was meant to be a Christmas present) stuffed up his T shirt- trying to make the giraffe smell comforting. Not sure plumber's sweat is very endearing!

Hi Pomster

Im in UK still at the moment! If you want, i could have a look in the MotherCare stores here, and see if i can get Hippo! Sometimes the online store doesnt have what in the high street stores have!
And i know what its like when a child loves something so much! And you do need some sleep!

Let me know .

That was so funny - bet she'd be really embarrassed about it now!

To the OP, sorry don't have a hippo, but wanted to wish you look finding one
