Hi everyone
I wonder if any of you can help. My son's birthday is in July and he wants a playstation 2 consol. We are emigrating to Oz in October. If i buy one here will it work in Oz and can i get games for it in Oz, or will i be better of getting one other there?

Hi, it should be fine, my son took his over last year and it worked fine He just needed a travel plug

Er they will work for sure on the TV etc... but do the games work ? ie Aussie bought PS2 games working on a UK console? Dont the PS2's have region control like DVD's? .

Xbox's dont have this - so xbox games in UK/Aus work on UK or Aus consoles .(according to others on this forum !).

There was a previous thread about this, i think that UK consoles will not play oz games.

We live in the Uk and have a UK playstation2. We were sent some aussie dvds last week, we couldn't play them as they were not the right 'region'. We bought 'exploder' from the 'game' chain stores. It unlocks dvds, games etc and does a heap of other stuff. 'exploder' cost £19.99. Hope that helps...we can now watch all my hubands aussie dvds

A UK PS2 will play games absolutely fine whether they're UK or Oz bought. Only problem can be playing region 4 dvds you get here. My daughter got a DVD player though for less than $70 so can watch whatever now.

There are no issues with games on either a UK or OZ PS2. They both use the PAL system and will work fine. Its also very easy to get them chipped (Well it was for us in Melbourne) There are adverts in the trading post for chipping and pirate games. Caribean (sp) Markets have a computer swap meet section where you can get your ps or xbox chipped and buy games
