Plastering
Just a quick one. We are hoping to move to Gold Coast October 2006. My husband is a plasterer. When I have been looking a jobs, a lot of plastering jobs mention having a Blue Ticket. Does anyone know what that is ?

It's a Health and safety permit in essence. He will have to go on an informal course for a day when he gets here costs about $100 or so and then sit a test which is so easy it is a joke. You then get issued a temp card then get your permanent card in the post a few days later.... If he can get himself dressed, then he can pass this test!! It is not trade specific, ie he'll be on the course with labourers, brickies, plasterers and if he's really unlucky a couple of building surveyors.
Sometimes an employer will pay for this, however for agency work he'll need the card first. a lot of agencies run the course themselves....
Card is credit card sized and is unique to each state. As i work across Oz i have got more than one....
