Smile Places to visit around Sydney

Hi All,
we are planning for a week trip for validating our visa in mid of March, with our 1 yr old kid
Appreciate if someone could let us know the places to see around Sydney for a couple of days, we are not looking for a guided tour, but planning to move around on our own, any links or details would be greatly helpful

You could try the Bondi Explorer Blue Bus or the Sydney Explorer Red Bus.

It's a little bit of a trek but blue mountains are spectacular.

In Sydney, the museums are good, especially the ons that has got all the spiders and snakes in glass cages.........You get to learn what you have to run a mile from or hit with a spade or incinerate with a blow torch.

The pictures of people with shark bites and jelly fish stings are nice too....

...hope that has not put you off !............honest, the museum is good.

You could spend a day at the beaches ie Manly, Palm etc.
Also Taronga Zoo is a good day out, and I'd second that about the Blue Mountains - well worth the drive up there

You have to go on the jet boat ride round sydney harbour... its great and very much worth the money... its nearly right beside the sydney opera house down in front of all the shops youll see them jetting around the harbour on a big red boat... its great fun and you get to go veryyyyy fast round that whole stretch of water.. under the bridge etc etc... great fun.

Pick up a copy of "Time Out - Sydney" (available in books shops). It's a small pocket guide to Sydney and surrounding areas. It lists a lot of places to visit in town that you may otherwise miss, most of which are free. Also has a handy map.

Also, don't forget to pick up the free tourist guide at Sydney Airport (you have to look for it - after customs). It contains great info for visitors and even better, it has money off vouchers for all the attractions.

There is Australia's only nuclear reactor in the southern suburb of Lucas Heights. Could be worth a visit, unless, of course, if you are in any way connected to a terrorist organisation, then you should probably keep away.
