Default Ngauranga

There aren't many houses in Ngauranga as it is mostly an industrial area. The ones that are there would have a nice view of the harbour as they're perched on a hill.

Johnsonville is very close to Ngauranga - a few minutes drive away. Khandallah & Broadmeadows are also very close & are very nice suburbs.

If you're planning on getting a car, then you can pretty much live anywhere as Ngauranga is easy to drive too. It only takes a few minutes to get there from the city.

PS. You do know that now you're a Wellington Lions & Hurricanes fan huh? (they're our rugby teams)

you're more than welcome.

if you want to live near the famous people.........Jonah Lomu lives in Evans Bay.....Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings director) lives in Miramar...........Elijah Wood (the main hobbit) so liked Wellington during the filming that he brought property in Mt Victoria, Stephen Fleming (NZ cricket captain) lives near Lyall Bay......Murray Mexted (TV commentator) lives in Tawa

Any other questions, just sing out!

yep you'll be fine. compared to other countries, living costs in welly are very reasonable.

welly is packed with a large variety of cafes & restaurants so there are places to suit everyone's wallet. the mayor likes to gloat that welly has more restaurants per capita than NY & Paris. Here's a site that has some of them.........
http://www.menus.co.nz/wellington/

probably your main expenses will be setting up your house. But there are plenty of quality furniture shops with good prices. LV Martins in Ngauranga is a good place for buying TVs, fridges etc.

if ur gonna buy a car (recommended), a gr8 place is from Turners Auctions which is in Hutt Rd (close to Ngauranga). Make sure you get an AA vehicle inspection. Jap cars in NZ are very cheap so you can pick up a late model Jap with all the extras for a very good price.

Thanks. It's interesting and helpful but not a clear map. I came across a half decent one a few months ago but haven't managed to find it again, yet. I'll keep looking.

I heard from an expat in Silverstream, Upper Hutt that this is a nice family suburb, as is Pinehaven nearby and one or two others. Overall she said there are plenty of good areas and the reputation is in the main a little unfair.
