Re: The Pill (contraceptives)
I have lived in Australia all my life and I have never paid to see a GP. Specialist yes, but not a GP.
I think the mistake that many British immigrants make is that they tend to go to small 'family' practices- this is a BIG no-no. You must only ever go to a large medical centre that has like atleast 6 doctors. Mine has 17 and I never have a problem. |
Re: The Pill (contraceptives)
I am beginning to think we won't be able to afford to live in Australia! It'll be cheaper to have another baby and not worry about contraceptive!! ;)

Re: The Pill (contraceptives)
Keep all your pharmacy and doctors receipts, and any medical-related bills including gap payments. You will get 20% of it back through your tax return, on the amount over $1500 spent on prescriptions and other medical expenses each year. Last tax year our family forked out $4200. Subtract $1500, 20% refund = $540 - not to be sneezed at! :-))

Re: The Pill (contraceptives)
Hey Suzy
I have a medicare card and recently went to get my first prescription - the medical centre bulk billed and I have a prescription with 3 repeats, so I have a total of 1 years supply. They give me 3 months at a time for Marvelon and it cost $35 for the 3 months. All-in-all not too bad. |
