I have just called Pickfords and they have assured me 100% that although there are problems they have a buyer and even if they were to go into administration they would still have to deliver our stuff to Perth as agreed.

Really have no idea what to do now, its too late to rearrange someone to collect all our stuff on Friday....

Need some proper advice rather than hysteria, sorry if that sounds a bit blunt im really not sure what to do now.

Agree completely. We used Doree Bonner who's quote wasn't the cheapest but we picked them based on numerous recommendations.

We were very happy with the packing process, but I'm also glad to say that we've just taken delivery of our 40ft container in Perth with the only breakage being a single (cheap) wine glass.

Don't blame you for going crazy......I'd be totally hysterical in your situation right now!!!
Wondering if the contract you signed would still be valid if a new buyer took the company over though? And would the new buyer agree to deliver all containers already en-route?
Hope things work out for you, I bet you're not the only one affected with this!!!

Just had another call from Pickfords and I have been again assured that if they go into liquidation they are legally bound to deliver our shipment to Perth as agreed.

The guy did say that it was only the UK part of Pickfords which was affected and that they had been "owned by many different people over the past 100 years with no problems during the change of ownership" and that we have nothing to worry about.

Dont think we have a choice but to send our stuff with them and pray, its far too short notice to get someone else in before we leave on Sunday.

Get that in writing then......it may not be worth much but it may give you peace of mind.
Good luck with your move......it's stressful enough without the shipping company added to your problems!!!

I would worry what would happen if they can't find a new buyer and they do go into liquidation? What happens to your container then?

good idea and also get in writing that if the worst should happen that there will no more charges on the other side except those for quarrentine and customs. Its one thing dealing with it from this side but your stuffed if it all goes wrong and they still have your conatiner in the port on the other side.

I would suggest that if you have paid and your goods are already in transit, contact the Australian company dealing with the import. If Pickfords haven't told you which company they are using, pick a local big one like OSS (for Brisbane) and ring them and ask for help.
When a certain pathetic company shipped my stuff 5 years back they gave me an importers name and the importer had no knowledge of the shipment at all, but were very helpful in tracking down the company that usually imported goods from that particular shipper.

They havent been collected yet, they are due to be packed on Friday but as its only a part container it is likely to stay in the UK for some time while they get other stuff to fill a container.

I believe Pickfords have branches in Australia they dont use a 3rd party agent.

FACT a company in liquidation is not legally bound to do anything, nor is the liquidator.

Wondering....if the company did go into liquidation (like a certain christmas saving club did) and if they have your container, could they sell your stuff to help recover any debts?
It doesn't bear thinking about really......but I certainly wouldn't risk using them now!!!
