So.. I've just watched last years Perth one of these and, forgive my ignorance, but I don't understand how people are able to buy a property after being in the Country for one month.

I thought that you had to have Permanent Residency to be able to buy property and I didn't think you could get this within a month of moving over?

I must be wrong, as the couple on that show bought a house at the end of it.

Can someone please clarify for me?

Some of us have Permanent Residency from the onset.

You can buy a property with a temporary visa, you just need approval first.

Oh! That is interesting... Thanks. I've been working on the basis that I'll have to rent for four years, whilst on a 457 visa!

I am aware that property is expensive over there, but from what I can see buying seems to be no more expensive than renting?

Thank you so much for this link. Having read it we applied on the Sunday, were telephoned the Monday. The camera man and director arrived on the Tuesday.
We arrived in Sydney yesterday, October 26th and the crew were waiting for us in arrivals to film us meeting our son and daughter. Today they are going to film us seeing our granddaughters. No, it's McCrackin.

We bought a house whilst on a 457 visa last year. They changed the rules just before we bought it and you no longer have to get approval providing you are using the house as a home and not an investment property.

I used to work with a Phil McKracken. No joke!!
