Yes but you can't convert like that as the wages most of the time are not so good out here in Australia.

I realise that. Just the same as the wages are higher in the US but the fuel is cheaper still. Just answering the question.....

Yep gone up 2p here in Nottingham.

Was paying 78.9p a week or so back and today I paid 80.9p.

The price of petrol in California has hit US$2.50 a gallon. That's about US70 cents a litre.

So California is approaching Australian prices.

Here in Texas (black gold, texas tea) it's still about US$1.80 a gallon.

Well the ads in the UK are really loud too. But less frequent. And some are a sight more entertaining than most of the programmes! (Why is it that foreign ads are so underwhelming, artistically speaking? The ones that Chris Tarrant manages to find are far from representative.)

Not that I care, I'm not going to Oz just to watch more/different TV! (And this forum will still be there, yippee.)
