That's something I miss now that I'm in the UK.

I once walked to the local deli in my pjs and dressing gown to pick up some milk. I hadn't finished my coffee, so I took the mug with me and drank it on the way.

Vash you will fit in so well in OZ!we had a business in a shopping centre and we were horified to see people walking about with no shoes on ,but at 9 in morning! and their feet were black ,which meant that they had gone to bed like that!
Wearing PJ S to go shopping !!!!! have people no pride in themselves
In the shopping centre were we had a shop ,we saw a girl about 16 with nothing but a duvet wrapped round her ,shuffling round the supermarket ,we could not believe it! Whats wrong with these people? were they dragged up ,not brought up ?
We live in Bedfordshire and maybe 5 mins for a taxi was not accurate .................10 mins sometimes .....and they phone you when they get outside your house ! ..you wont find that in OZ

Well I am Australian, was born and raised in Australia, and spent the first 31 years of my life in Australia, so I'd be pretty surprised if I didn't fit in...

No, your feet will get black pretty quickly if you walk across a car park. Believe me, I've done it. Perfectly clean feet when I left the house; black feet 30 minutes later. They get quite grubby from the car pedals while driving, too.

I don't see the problem here. What is it, exactly? Try visiting Walsall on the weekend some time. People in duvets would look like royalty by comparison!

Hell, I don't even get it in the UK.

I take off my shoes as soon as I get home from work every day. It feels much nicer than keeping them wrapped up in shoes all the time. Human beings went barefoot for thousands of years; I can't see it doing us any harm in the modern era.

I really hope you are going to say you dont believe that that is OK to be called that .
It's OK to call someone a Pommy bastard if they're your mate and you know they don't mind. It's not OK if you don't know them.

Now you have told me your history ,that explains why you think there is nothing wrong with not wearing shoes. Each to their own .
OK, here's one for you: why do Poms wear sandals with socks?

Ok a few good posts but a few people have gone offtrack and others have jumped in to criticise what others have written.

This is a thread for things that YOU find quirky, funny or odd and would like to share in a good natured way.

Could the people who are trying to argue over points please dont, just appreciate that the comments are from someone elses point of view and may not agree with your own opinons and no amount of posts by you will change their view, so please dont try.

Now there's a British invention, where it is still legal to do so unless you're over the limit

Bar/wait staff removing cutlery/glasses when one of you has finished but the other person hasn't.

It is very annoying but I think it now happens everywhere. Haven't been taught properly!
