Default Perth suburb of Claremont

Any info on Claremont? We are relocating to Perth for a couple of years with work and Claremont has been suggested to us. We are looking for a good residential area with lots of other families around and a good primary school. We'd also like to be on the right side of town to have relatively easy access to the beach. Are there any parts of Claremont to be avoided when looking for rental property? Any help would be much appreciated, as would suggestions of other suburbs which would fit the bill.

Nice suburb, particularly nearer the river, but with prices to match. Did the person who suggested Claremont also suggest Peppermint Grove, Dalkieth and Nedlands? Want to be nearer the beach then try Cottesloe.

All very expenive places though and near some of the best (private) schools in Perth.

All of Claremont is good hope you have some money though, cos rentals for a house be $400 plus and buying be half a mill.... its a great suburb and have lived there for about 6 years.
