I totally agree; when it comes to pants Glasgow ranks with the smelliest of them all........... but it sure is a good laugh!!!!!!!!! anyway ...... not slagging of anybody's uncle's, grans, sister...............houses......just wanting some views.
Chill x:cool:
You have to remember that ,for many, Perth is at the end of the Yellow brick road so any discussion about it is going to start a debate.
Why people want to go to Perth is still one of life's eternal mysteries:rolleyes:

I think a lot of people emigrating to Australia think Perth is a cross between Dallas (seriously meant, nothing to do with perceptions of the city from the TV series but if you've been to Dallas, you'll know what I mean: modern cool metropolis rising out of the desert - and Perth on beautiful ocean front as well), Neighbours, Barcelona and Shangri La.

Fair play, that's what I want, too. :D

Fair enough you were expressing views from previous threads - but are you saying you didn't find anything at all posted by someone who likes living in Perth? Perhaps you should look again.

Despite this a lot of people seriously consider moving there...........despite the fact that unemployment is a pretty serious issue:eek:
Since browsing this forum my idealistic ideas of a life in Perth have turned into nightmares of unemployment, big spiders, hunger, scabby houses and sand storms????????:( Glasgow suddenly becomes more appealing hehehehe:D

have you ever been there.....must say your comment about scabby housing is a bit below the belt..........my uncles house in Currambine is 5 x 2 with a large pool, a massive first floor parents retreat overlooking the Indian ocean......with a drive that parks 6 cars...............

Perth or Glasgow........let me think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [/QUOTE]

What an annoying post. You can have a great house anywhere if you can afford it. I have worked around Perth for the last 13 years and have seen many "scabby" houses.

bla bla bla..this has been thrashed out on so many threads now - it's a compliment to Perth that it is so topical!

Our rellie said on the news yesterday that the average Perth wage is $1000 pw. I don't think it's bad for and 'average'. Yes on the face of it lower wages, higher tax seems bad but unless you take this accross the broad spectrum of daily life you won't get a fair comparison

Scabby houses - your'e having a laugh right - have you researched this at all? Take a little look at Hillarys, Sorrento, Ocean Reef, Subiacio..I could go on.

My advice do some research stop reading other peoples bad experiences and don't be a lemming - their experience is not comparable. Take what you can from the site good and bad (and give some back too) but don't let it be YOUR opinion..make your own.

..and good luck to you - personally never liked Scotland very much too grey and cold and wet but horses for courses.

As you may have guessed I am off to Perth - can't bloody wait
:)

The only people who move to Perth are British migrants for some reason. You don't get thousands of Australians moving to Perth and they're just as keen on cheap housing and fantastic lifestyles as the average migrant. You'd think a place so supposedly wonderful would be full of recently-arrived Eastern-staters wanting to buy a nice house near the beach for half the price of what they pay at home, wouldn't you?

Well it's not. Why not? Because Australians know that jobs are thin on the ground, the pay is lower, it's surrounded by desert and thousands of miles from anywhere else...
That's bullshit.

We know loads of Eastern Staters here with plenty more on their way.

Our kids school is full of people from NSW and Vic.

Nice to read this Renth.

What do you reckon on Iluka? do you know Delgado parade?
:)

It's just down the road from Ocean Reef.

We visited a couple of hoses there at the weekend. It's flatter than Ocean Reef so the sea views aren't as good, unless you're on the front.

I don't know Delgado parade, but I have heard of it.

The beach is great for snorkelling or fishing but it's not an ideal beach for small kids to swim as it is quite rocky. There are loads of rays and a resident male Australian sealion.

The houses are great although a lot of them are built on the "fill the block right up to the edge and stick a tin roof on it to save some cash" principle. This means your house is overlooked by neighbours and naked swimming in your pool is not an option.

Oh, and it's chock full of Poms.

I agree with Renth on this; I think you've been sitting in the sun too long!

We know plenty of Eastern states people who have come to Perth, most notably Melbourne (mainly because the weather is cr*p).

We also know alot of people who have gone to live on the Eastern states, only to return a few months later because they hate how busy and expensive it is.
