Default Perth rekkie- still unsure...help please..

Hi All

Still confused re planning of 3 week Perth rekkie..

Option 1;-

1 week Perth city hotel
1 week Busselton/Bunbury - hotel
1 week Perth city hotel
( thus seeing north and south)

Option 2 ;-

2 nights Perth city
3 weeks house rental Joondalup ?
( thus seeing areas more relaistic for settling in due to wife's job (paediatric nurse and a taste for real living in a house)?

Confusing, go for the holiday experience or the future real life experience ?

Help please..

Dave

Option 2 worked for us on our recce to Adelaide (though obviously we did some touristy stuff too...). We rented a house sort of houseswap style and for us it was the right decision.

Yeah I think the house rental seems the better option. You can still drive down to Bussleton/Bunbury and maybe spend a night there if you like.

Either way I'm sure you'll love Perth, its a fantastic place!

House rental!

We did one week in Ocean Reef, Perth (easy to see NOR and SOR from there) then one week in Dunsborough South West WA (visited Bunbury, Busselton and Margaret River area from there)

Hi

We are going Perth to validate / reccie on the 5th of jan and hiring a camper for a couple of weeks, not sure how this equates financially but its great for getting about easily rather than hotels etc, although house sounds ok.

Best of luck whatever you do.

Go for the experience that will give you the most REAL life experience. Read part of a very long reccie report just recently, could not help thinking no matter how fabulous it was, it bore no relation whatsover to day to day life here weeks of dining out and sightseeing is not really going to prepare you for work/school/cost of living compared to wages, travel times in rush hour, medical costs ................. you know the boring stuff thats life not holiday.

We did option 2, but had 3 days in Singapore rather than 2 in a Perth hotel.

We rented a house in Quinns Rocks, a few miles north of Joondalup. It had a pool, which we found was great after a hot days' sightseeing. Obviously we were in holiday-mode, but we did go to several supermarkets for shopping and it gave us the chance to walk around a suburb and see what things were like first-hand. It was nice because we spoke to some of the neighbours and spoke to people in the local shops, all of whom were friendly.

We hired a car ( I found driving around Perth to be very easy and stress-free ), but also used public transport, which we found very clean and modern.

We ate in and out in equal measure, including a couple of places at the Joondalup retail park, all of which were nice, friendly and reasonably-priced. There was a big gas barbie at the house but I just couldn't be arsed !

We also took deliberate detours on our way to places so we could see what some of the Northern suburbs were like. All those we drove around
( Quinns Rocks, Currambine, Joondalup -which felt more like a town in itself, Kinross, Clarkson, Mindarie ) looked really nice and well-maintained.

Go for option B and have a bloody good look around. You'll get more of a feel for the place. If you like it, you'll have plenty of time to see Busselton/Bunbury when you move over for good !

Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll love it.

PM me if you want me to tell you where we went and what we did.

ps We are in Failsworth. Hello neighbour.

Hi Dave.

We went this year and had 1 week in the city in a hotel (done Rottnest Island e.t.c) and done 2 weeks house rental in Hocking (near Joondaloop if you don't know).

If you want to rent a house try pomsinperth.com, Mark is a great guy and they offer a superb service with nice well furnished houses.

We did option 2. had a hotel in the CBD for two nights then picked up the hire car and stayed in a rental NOR. It gave us a chance to feel the real Perth. Things like going to the supermarket and pricing food shopping, getting a feel for the areas, what the roads were like etc. Although we did make sure we hired a house with a pool so we could relax with a beer of an evening
