Thumbs up Perth on a Reccie?

Hi,

We fly tomorrow (via Hong Kong) on our reccie trip. It's been arranged through Poms in Perth. Can't believe how many people are headed for Perth! We'll soon see for ourselves what the appeal is (hopefully!)

V worried about the flight with 3 kids - 7, 3 and 0 :scared: Our youngest will be celebrating his first birthday whilst over - one to remember!

Any tips for fun things to do for small people with even smaller attention spans? Lots to fit into the trip - houses, small business development people, schools......

Can't wait. I don't know if any of you go to the Poms in Perth meets every month? Hopefully we will go to the January one. It would be good to meet some of you!

Take care - off to dose the kids with sedatives!!!

Jules.

Hiya, you didnt say who you are flying with but we flew with BA/Quantas when we went to Perth in april and they are brill with the kids, colouring packs, sweeties, the lot. they are there for you for the whole trip, you get individual TV screens so kids can watch cartoons and all that. Our 9 year old had a great time. good luck with the reccie and take a trip down to the 'Lucky Shag' bar near the bell tower, its ace down there.

Hi
I've lived in Perth since 89. It's a great place for kids but a bit quiet. The houses are stupendous compared to what you would get in the U.K. if we sold our double storey 4 bed 2 bath with pool in Mindarie we could probably get a 1 bed flat back in Shepherds Bush.
Things to see.
Hillarys boat Harbour.
Fremantle.
Mandurah.
a drive through the Swan Valley via the vinyards and the chocolate factory.
Rottnest island

If you want any more info I can go on.

Two daughters aged 3 and 8 recommend the following:

AQWA at Hillaries
Water Slides at Hillaries
Adventure World, Bibra Lake
Tumblegum Farm, 10k south of Byford
Perth Zoo
Mullaloo Beach
Perth Mint
Scitech Discovery Centre
Fremantle Maritime Museum (bit boring according to 8yo, but we parental units thought was excellent)

Apparently Rottnest is a must, but not had the chance yet. Similarly there are attractions further away but no first hand experience.

There is a meet of expat at Kings Park today which is on the forum somewhere.

Have fun
