Default Perth to Queensland

Hi

We are moving from Perth to Queensland and need some advice on areas. We are looking to be semi-rural but within 40 mins of Brisbane. Coast would be nice but are also looking at Ipswich area and inland areas. Schools is really important because our son will be 15 this year and it is his last year at school. Any info or recommedations appreciated.

Thanks

The Bayside is cooler in Summer, and warmer in Winter than Ipswich way.

Some decent ruralish areas over East aswell.

Mount Crosby, Karana Downs both semi-rural served by Kenmore High School, one of the best state high schools in SE Qld. More than 40 minutes from Brisbane CBD (an hour plus). Little (or no) public transport.

Slightly nearer, Bellbowrie, Moggill, some acreage properties.

Or, if you're cashed up - Brookfield, Anstead, Pinjarra Hills.

Mate ...

What equity would you consider as 'cashed up' ... ?

We live in the Bayside - Thornlands and it's a great area to be. As ABC says, it's cooler in summer than the inland areas and warmer in the winter.

There are plenty of good schools in the area and the commute into the CBD is not too bad - 40 mins, or 1 hour on the train.

We moved up from Sydney last year and love it here!

Good luck with the move

Hi

Thanks to everyone, will probably opt for private school for eldest but state for primary so area really important. Looking for 1 - 5 acres and renting initially. Is the Bayside area just suburbs of housing estates, really want to be out of the rat race to some extent, but not isolated.

Coming from Perth I have noticed how much cheaper rentals and house prices are.

Bellbowrie, Moggill
Brookfield, Anstead, Pinjarra Hills
Mount Crosby, Karana Downs

- any info on good private schools in these areas would be great. Any good state primary schools as well.

We live in a new suburb of Perth which just lately has really gone down the drain. Lots of hoons and anti-social behaviour in general. It was a really nice suburb when we moved in. Really want to make sure that we are away from that as much as is possible.

Thanks

Don't know about the areas you have mentioned but as I said, I am in the Bayside area. I live on 1 acre and am surrounded by much larger properties. Some of this area is housing and some is rural.....it's very much horse country where I am......but I am only 5 mins from Victoria Point Shops and 10 mins from the trainline into the city.

Excellent schools around - Ormiston College (but waiting lists to get in) and Sheldon College are the top two locally. More of a drive is Moreton Bay College. However there are the lower fee paying private schools which are also excellent such as The Faith Lutheran School and Redlands College. Both church schools, but not too heavy on the religeous side. Half the cost of the other privates!!!

Our 12 year old goes to Ipswich Boys Grammar (private), excellent school, from prep to year 12. Lots of others in the western subs to choose from. Plenty of good state primary schools about - Mount Crosby, Moggill, Kenmore.

Hi Rudi

Is Bayside an area or suburb. If it is an area are there good and bad suburbs or is it all fairly nice. As for schools we are looking for a good private school and the less religion the better. My daughter also has a pony which we will probably sell before we move as she is out growing him anyhow, so horse country really good.

Thanks

Kerry

Hi- Just like to say, both my kids go to Mount Crosby State school and we also live in Karana Downs. We find both excellent and could highly recommend both, and no problems with either. Good luck!
