Are yes that was it the Mon Desir. The drive wasnt too bad - we used to drive all over Auckland with different circle of friends. Also a mate used to fancy one of the girls behind the bar. (what you do for mates). This was also back in the days when doing 140KH on the motorway was both capable due to lack of traffic and the police were not as stringent on speed. Do you remember the toll booths?

Have to ask wife about where in Tassie - think they went on school trips from Melbourne. Its funny but generations ago my family moved there from Cornwall during the Ballarat mining boom.

Well better go and do some more packing

Cheerio :)

Certainly do and i recall one nye(early 70s) when I was just a youngster and we didn't have the 10c toll fee and the driver had to sign a form with the motorway patrol so we could get back to the shore lol

;) Driving up to the hot pools at Waiwera after just getting my license. Ahh thought we were so cool in our old Monaro. Life was so much simpler back then.

Sorry but couldn't help but notice you saying your family generations ago moved from Cornwall during the Ballarat gold mining boom. My partners fanily did exactly that, started off in Ballarat and then moved over to Tasmania shortly after.

Haha you never know... you may be related !

How funny
