the reason we're paying $350 is that he'd prefer to have a tenant who he can trust. And here's the thing - I know all of the gook about properties being worth what the market will pay, but in my eyes, if i had $1.8m then I would never spend it on the house. Its OK but I cannot see how it can be worth $1.8m. To me it would be like putting your life savings into Tech stocks in early 2000 just before the crash - it all just seems so overpriced and empty. I would - even given the price increases in the UK - get more for my 780K GBP in Derbyshire. |

Good tennants are worth hanging on to, I know, I still have my UK house and our current tennants are brilliant. I'd never do anything which might upset them. |

Which is why hes using a valuer and not an estate agent who will lie about the price to "buy" the listing.

Seems people have forgotten the crash in 86/87 - reality check people, there is more to life than property. You still need cash for living and emergencies. I am still astounded by the navity of estate agents, many of whom have only worked in the industry during the recent boom period. Our family have been in property development since 1950 and are all cashed up at the moment. |

We used to drive over from our home in Manurewa, then Bucklands Beach to go to the pub near Takapuna beach (forgot the name). Do you remember Kitty OBrians near Victoria Market? Wife liked Devonport but thought Howick and South East was not right for her. She has fond memories of holidays in Tassie. |
