Default Perth Electricity bills

How much is everyone else paying for their electric in Perth?

In our rental we were paying about $1.50/day ($45/month) but since we moved into this house it is about $4/day ($120/month). We have gas for hot water, the hob and the main room heater. Everything else is electric.

All that we have in this house on electric we didn't have in the rental are: dishwasher; pool; air-con; a few outdoor lights. (The unit charge hasn't changed) None of that could explain the difference could it?

Don't know about Perth cos we're in Brissy but $120 month for 3/4 bed house, pool, dishwasher, lights etc seems about right. We pay $40 week but that also includes hot water & cooker as we have no gas so $120 sounds about right.

we had a bill last month ...$240 for 60 days. Using the air con and tumble dryer in the colder months is what skyrockets the bill. In summer it's $100 less for the same period.

Its your pool pump, uses the most power. Check to see how long it is on for. In winter a few hours a day is sufficient.

Our last one was for 45 days and included the establishment fee of $25
So a total of $93 all in gst the lot.
About $1.51 a day !

the pool will be the thing that really chews up the energy, we have got a spa which has an ozone cleaner for the water, it means the pump is on for an hour each evening and our electric bill is double what it was in our rental.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to do a test. First of all a kettle spun the meter wheel every 4 seconds - that is 1kwh I think. Retic and dishwasher etc didn't make much of a difference. The three things that really made a difference were the pool pump (8 seconds to go round so 500Wh I guess which is a lot when on for a few hours per day - halved the time it is on now), air-con (12 seconds to go round - again runs a lot in the summer) and worst of all was the 2 large and 1 small oil-filled heaters. They spun the wheel in just over a second so that is like running 2 1/2 kettles all the time! Will have to make do with the new Rinnai gas heater and jumpers instead.

So it seems with all these mod-cons that bill is normal. I suppose the gas is quite low so it evens itself out.
