We stayed in the Medina Grand on Mounts Bay Road. Got some sort of deal through movingplanet. I believe they do hotel rooms and apartments. They have pool which is a little noisey as it's quite close to the bus station but we thought it was pretty cool at night to be able to see all the tall buildings. Each to there own but we didn't have any probs. Its all pretty new as well.

We stayed here:

http://www.riverviewperth.com.au/

It is extremely close to the city and Kings Park. That was 4 years ago though but have seen it several times since and it still looks nice (from the outside anyway).

They don't have a pool.

If you are coming in the winter, you'd need one with an indoor pool.

Whilst in the city we stayed at The Rydges Hotel which was great. Lovely big rooms in a good location and i got it cheap as chips, also you can use the indoor pool at the very nice gym complex next door.

The Ibis looks pretty cheap and is central. Not stayed at the Perth one but have used them in other cities / countries.
