Default The "Perth Circle"

Hi guys
It's weird how when you've been here for a bit, you start bumping into people and it feels just like home. Then you start bumping into people who know people you know, apparently this little phenomenon is called "The Perth Circle" and happens because Perth is basically an overgrown big town.
Just a couple of examples-
Someone from the forum has got a job at my hubby's work and heard his name mentioned in the interview (congrats, won't give any more info away!),
the woman who sold my mates some rollershutters is my daughter's mates mum from school,
I could go on, but you get the idea!
This never seemed to happen to us in the Uk though.

Totally agree with this. It's 'three degrees of separation' over here!

Everyone is linked somehow. Especially the English community. If you get chatting, they'll always know someone you do!

I very often go shoppong around Lakeside and hear all the Brit accents and wonder "I wonder if they go on Brit Expats?"

Happens everywhere.
I moved to canada when I was 20, lived there for 19 years. I found out that my very first girlfriend from junior school lived 2 minutes away from me ! Have bumped into several people I knew from the uk while in canada.
