Yes, Perth is boring. I'm bored out of my mind. There is absolutely nothing to do here. The shops are closed on Sundays so I can't shop. There are no decent pubs so I can't go out drinking. Bananas cost $38.50 per kilo. Lettuce is $18.00 per head. My foreign TV set doesn't work here. I have to get a licensed electrician to change the light bulb that blew out in my front hall. I suggest we all drink the cyanide laced kool-aid now.

Are you serious Dorothy, you seemed a lot happier when we met last at kings park. I hope things improve for you if you are serious. Nev:D |
Re: Is Perth boring ... ?
Perth is the 4th most livable city in the world and Perth also has the reputation of being Australia’s friendliest city. We are the most isolated city in the world so give us a break :)
No decent pubs? Where have you been going? |
Re: Is Perth boring ... ?
Name these so called 'decent' pubs ...

Re: Is Perth boring ... ?
There are one or two in there that 'could' or 'would' be, and by the way I've frequented them all, if you were able to find a pint under 9 bucks ...
The Queens is my favourite pub as it goes, outside of my local Paddy's in Joondalup.

Re: Is Perth boring ... ?
You should try Paddy's ... 'pint of the month' which is usually decent (Guinness, Stella etc @ $7.50) ... and the clientele is marginally better than the Moon or the Bailey ... ;):D

Re: Is Perth boring ... ?
The Flying Scotsman used to be a cracking boozer, then it went all Karaoke ... still a decent spot with a mixed crowd :)
As for the Subi, Raffles and those in that ilk ... they are very much 'Terrace type' metrosexual haunts but still good from time to time. If you want a quality restaurant (at a price) head to Balthazar ... awesome atmosphere, great wine list & the food's a touch too.

Re: Is Perth boring ... ?
We were there for part of our reccie and enjoyed every minute, found loads to do days and evenings, the city is so clean and well laid out (and I am so not a city person), people friendly and has a real nice feel to the place, only been to Oz once we then went south down to Bunbury area and liked WA but house prices have been the deciding factor is deciding to settle on the east coast.
This forum seems to enjoy knocking Perth, we loved it. |

1. The Brisbane in Highgate - Voted best pub in Australia last year and so it should of. Not sure about the best pub in Oz but had a good night there last Saturday. 2. The Queens in Mt. Lawley. Similar to the above. 3. The flying Scotsman in My. Lawley. Doesn't look much from outside  4. The Subiaco Hotel. Pretentious. 5. The Vic in Subi. Not Outstanding for the amount they charge 6. Little Creatures in Freo. Overpriced, noisy, chaotic barn. 7. The Cott in Cottesloe. - Hottest girls in Australia. Great view, hot girls. Average pub. (OH review) 8. OBH in Cottesloe. As above. 9. The Royal in East Perth. Nice pub and views, very expensive. 10. The Windsor in South Perth. Okish 11. The Raffles in Applecross. Haven't been in since the refurb so can't comment. 12. The Lucky Shag in Perth. Great position but unfortunately the name says it all really!! Give them a go.. Restraunts and clubs now? haha |

Re: Is Perth boring ... ?
As a refugee from the NZ forum can I say that Perth is one of the most pleasant, colourful places I've ever seen. And boring, nah, never!
|
Re: Is Perth boring ... ?
I've never been to Perth.
However, the builders across the road (a six of them) are from Perth. To quote them directly, "Perth is even more boring than Cambridge". I think that they're making the perhaps dubious comparison with London. Cam |

I, like hundreds of thousands of other people love Perth for not being like Melbourne etc. If you don't like Perth, that's fine with me. Just stop whinging about it and f**k off somewhere else.
