Default Pension Transfer

Hi Guys

I'm sure this must have been asked a thousand time but I'm a glutten for punishment so here goes.

We went to Sandown on friday and saw a few financial people about pension transfer. I realise there must be a fair bit of work involved but didn't realise just how much it is going to cost to transfer my pensions over.

If anyone has already done it or about to who did you use or can it be done easily yourself.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Graham

Hi Graham

As I understand it you are slightly b******d at the moment as you can only transfer UK pensions to QROPS (qualifying recognised overseas pension scheme) as a result of A day. Check out the HMRC website for further details.

At the moment there are no QROPS in Australia!

Check out Alan Collett's recent posting on here and his website for further information.

There are certain companies/individuals to avoid where it comes to pension transfers, again do a search on here!

PS Hubby will transfer or own pensions once we are in OZ and have hopefully found a QROPS!

Graham - did these financial people tell you anything about the upcoming changes to pensions transfers overseas? If they didn't - then perhaps they shouldn't be at such a show?

As pointed out, I can think of one in particular to avoid .

I reckon Alan is the man to contact when it comes to pensions. He knows his stuff and gives loads of advice on here.
