Default PC Virus Protection

I have Norton Anti Virus software installed on my PC which is due to expire on 21st November. My PC will by then be packed up, in a box and hopefully on a boat somewhere on route to Oz. My question is this:-

Will my UK purchased Norton still work as effectively in Oz? Is it worth renewing my subscription now so I am protected as soon as I get there? Will I be able to continue with Norton subscription in Oz?

I know these are dim questions but I am not techno savvy in the slightest.

Thanks in advance.

Why pay money.

You can get a perfectly good free one. AVG Antivirus.

Just do a google and download the free version.

Its all auto install and tells you when updates are available.

I would ditch Norton as it can seriously slow down your machine.

Use one of the other two mentioned as they are free and do a good job.

I completely agree, no need to continue paying for Norton. The free alternatives are much better

I use Kapersky Internet Security 2009. It's superb. It costs about AUD75 for a 3 computer licence.

Bear in mind though that a freebie ant-virus application will only protect you from exactly that and if you ever get hit by something like a root-kit then you'll wish that you had paid for a comprehensive security suite (just don't get Norton again - they're so crap it's not funny).

Go for AVG Internet Security, fairly cheap for 2 years cover and certainly miles better than Norton, Trend etc etc
