Default PAYG internet?

We are heading over to Adelaide for a four week reccie/visa validation trip in Feb
My husband and I both run businesses from home and altho we are leaving things in very capable hands we are thinking of ways in keeping in contact.....if we take our laptop are there any pay as you go options for internet access (on a 30 day contract) available? or would we be relying on free wifi areas? or do you think it's a waste of time bringing the laptop and we should just use internet cafes?
sorry about the ramble, I'm just thinking out loud!!!
Any suggestions gratefully recieved
Lou.

3 do a pay as you go 3g broadband offer. If you already have a dongle, then it's AUSD 10 for the SIM and $50 gets you 3Gig for the month. Worked very well the last time I was there.

Vodafone also do a similar deal, but you have to but the dongle for $99

Virgin also, but I'm not sure how good their coverage is.

We have Virgin and it is pretty good - runs off the Optus towers. I would steer clear of 3 unless you are going to be central metropolitan.

If you have a dongle, you will need to get it unlocked - and probably easier to do that before you leave I should think, unlocking things here can be a nightmare. If you need to buy one they arent expensive and you can pick them up from Dick Smith or similar.
