Pathetic News Broadcast
I watched the late news on Channel 10 last night. 1st item was about some woman who had injured her toe and now cannot run in the olympics. 2nd item was a young SAS signaller killed on operations in Afghanistan. WTF. Absolutely pathetic. Their priorities are disgusting and Channel 10 should be ashamed of themselves.

I find the headlines in the New Zealand papers amusing. They are all about the "New Zealand born" Australian soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Re: Pathetic News Broadcast
Australian news and current affairs is pathetic all together.
Watching TV last night and a breaking news banner came across the screen – I thought it was actual news, it was about some Aussie who broke her toe!
This morning, the first headline was again about the bloody toe! I’m sorry, but 1: An athlete breaking her toe should NOT be headline news, and it should be kept in the “sport” section, at the end!
Then come to the sport section they talked about the Tour De France, all they said was “an Australian is in 4th place” ....nothing about 1st or 2nd.
Australian news is behind, anything happening outside Australia doesn’t matter or exists, it’s all local news for local people, cats stuck up trees and that crap. No mention of Iran launching missiles on the Aussie TV.
Thank god for the Internet, otherwise we’d never know what was happening in the rest of the world.
Worst thing is, they are still reporting that bloody toe!:curse:

The Brits do it to.
Aussie 14 or 16 yr old won Wimbledon girls or whatever its called. Everyone in her family is an Aussie. Her family moved to the UK for work when she was a kid. Suddenly she's a Brit. Only a Brit...

Re: Pathetic News Broadcast
Australian news started talking about the “toe” yesterday afternoon when it was urgent “breaking news”, then it was main headline on the late news, then it was main headline in the morning news today, then it was main headline in the lunch news, then it was still main headline in the afternoon news, evening news and probably again tonight on the late news.
On every Aussie free to air channel and on the “aussie version” of Sky news.
2 bloody days and they are still reporting the damn toe!

But at least the Brits actually report news.

Wait until the Olympics ! You will always know where the Aussie came, be it first , second, tenth or whatever !
They just dont seem to mention who came first if its not an Aussie !!
Not been here for Olympic games yet, but have heard this from lots of people who have been.

You only hear about the Aussie and that’s it!
It was like that with the last world Cup – Australian TV was never interested in the world cup (apart from SBS), but as soon as Australia finally got in it was all that was talked about, all we heard about for the whole time was how good the aussies are at football... oh I mean “soccer”.
Once Australia was out of the cup we never heard anything about it on the other stations. It was like it never existed.
Thank god for Foxtel, I know its crap compared to what we have overseas, but at least it will come in handy to get away from everything “aussie” during the Olympics.

So when Beckham broke the bone in his foot, that was just restricted to the sports section at the end of the news then

Re: Pathetic News Broadcast
Sorry but I can't believe why the complaints or am I missing something. I thought that sport was high on the Aus culture list so why wouldn't they make news of a celebrity breaking a toe - they want success and appreciate their athletes!! In the UK we had to listen to more stabbings and 'CANADA NEEDS YOU'. ie move to Canada because the UK is crap.
I spent 3 years in the SAS and it's nice to see a country respects a trooper. 3 SAS lads were killed 2 weeks or so ago and it was news over here too, so what's the problem?
The news in the UK must be the most depressing in the world at least the Ausies are more optimistic. Forget the arrogant and miserable POM attitude and just enjoy Ausralia.
Shoot me down if you like - whoops perhaps a bad joke!

Australians are obsessed with sport, it's one of the reasons I left and any Aussies who are successful in any endeavor other than sport also usually leave.
Get used to low-quality sports-obsessed journalism as it is all you'll get there!
