Default Passport Stuff - Contacting Australia House

Does anyone know if there's an e-mail address to ask anyone in Australia House questions re evidencing PR visa?

We need to ask:

we got PR visa's in July. Got visa's put in passports. Now before we go we need new passport for one of us. Rather than carrying around old and new passports, can they just put visa in new passport, even before it's been validated?

Thanks,

Paul.

Don't think you can contact Aussie house for that but I may be wrong.

I would suggest emailing your case officer. When I had some last minute queries I got an answer within 24hrs and sometimes the same day.

Worth a try.......

Best wishes

We are in the same situation, got married after the stickers were put in the passport, so when you find out please post the answer.

Thanks

You would have made things a lot simpler if you had obtained the new passport first.

Contacting anyone at Australia House is easier said than done. Fax is probably the best option:
http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/over...united_kingdom

Give a contact email address. Be prepared to be persistent as they may not respond first time.

Carrying old and new passports is ok as far as DIMIA is concerned, but if you come across someone clueless at check-in for an Australia bound flight you may face a delay if they want to get an ok from DIMIA in Canberra before allowing you to board.

Cheers JAJ. I'll give the fax a try.

Anyone else have an e-mail contact?

Just faxed Australia House.

I hadn't even returned to my chair and the phone rang - literally 30 seconds after fax went. Anyway, they advised taking both passports and re-evidence visa when we get there.

Cheers JAJ.

Be warned that I tried to re-evidence an offshore visa in Australia a few years ago and it wasn't possible to get a printed visa label. All they could offer was a handwritten visa label - it's hard to say which option will cause more hassle.

Things may have improved since then - I'm just saying that despite what DIMIA say, getting a new *printed* visa label is sometimes easier said than done.
