Passport Expiry and Australian Visa
I am posting this on a behalf of my friend. He is having an Australian PR which is going to expire on 15 May 2017. His passport is valid through 10 May 2017.
He want to enter Australia permanently on 1st May 2017. Will he be able to travel through his passport whose validity is just one week? OR should he apply for a passport renewal and then get a visa sticker transferred to the renewed passport before travel? Need advises.

Well it is usually easier to apply for a new passport from the home country. So I would get a new one for that reason. Many people have transferred the I sa to the new passport, I believe it can even be done online now through immi account.

Can you please explain about the immigration account? He actually applied through an immigration consultant and doesn't have an account. Any idea if Australian embassy provides such a service?

Depending on where he's going to be flying from, he may not be able to transit through a large number of countries who now require a passport to have at least six months left on it. Renew it from his home country.
