Hi
I am new to the site, but just thought I would share our good news.
Today, my husband received confirmation that his application for a Partner Visa has been accepted. Our application was front loaded and took less than 7 working days to be processed in London (I sent 20 January and confirmation received 28 January). And I believe the case officer was on holiday for some of that time as well.
Just goes to show the system sometimes works!
If anyone wants any info on application etc, please let me know. Happy to help out.
Am off to drink champagne.
Rachel

Congratulations on getting your partner's visa sorted out so quickly. It's good to hear of these things! My partner and I will be travelling a similar route later in the year, so let's hope that they're as efficient when our turn comes!

Where are you now and where are you heading for?
Any info you wish to share is always appreciated; not just by myself, but by others in a similar position, so please feel free to go into a bit more detail.

Cheers 'n' beers,
PR

I am a Bris Vegas girl who has been living in the UK for the last 10 years. I married my English man in 2002 and we have an eighteen month old daughter and another on the way - due early March.
Since having children I have felt terribly home sick and am dragging hubby home somewhat under duress. We aim to head back in September.
A number of friends of mine (Bris Vegas girl/Brit fellow relationships) have either gone through the visa process or are about to. It has taken a vast array of timeframes to do this. Interestingly, one of the longest ones was done through an agent.
I would recommend front loading (a term I have just learnt means putting your entire application together and then sending it in, rather than sending it in dribs and drabs). Everything else is pretty straight forward but time consuming. The only other thing to be weary of is that if the partner has spent more than a certain amount of time in Australia already (ie done their year OE out ther) then they need a police clearance from Australia as well as the UK. This has held up a couple of friends of mine.
Otherwise, bombard them with info - mortgage or rental documentation, life insurance documentation, car insurance documentation - anything with both your names on it.
But to be honest, I think the fact that we are married with 1 (nearly 2) children meant that it was more a formality than anything.
Hope that helps - if you need anything more specific, can take you through application bit by bit! Sorry reply is so long - a few too many champagnes and a bit of a visa high! Good luck with your whole process...

What a lovely reply!
Thank you. I've sent you some karma to kick-start your collection of little blue boxes.
If you're still around in a few months when we get to the 'ready' stage, I'll PM you.

Hope the champers didn't leave you with any bad side effects!
Ah, what the heck, have another!!

Sounds good to me - will be nice for Stephen to have a network of Brit friends over there for when things get a bit low. I know my Aussie friends in the UK have been my saving grace at times.
What do you miss the most about the UK?

congratulations. We also benefited from the speed of the case officers at the AHC in London for a spouse visa for my British Hubby. Think our total working time on our visa was about 5-7 working days. We just had to provide a bit more info to prove we had lived together as long as we stated so Hubby could get the permanent visa. ~We're going back to Brisbane in April (I'm from Ashgrove/The Gap area originally).. we can't wait to get on that plane and go~!
