Default Pallets??

Anyone used pallets? We intend self packing our 20' container, and was wondering whether anyone has palletised their personal effects and what were their experiences- pros and cons sort of thing.
After clearance,we intend to store our gear for a while in a secure depot and it'll save time and money, if the movers "fork lift" the load rather than man handling loads and loads of boxes.

When the time comes it'll be quicker/cheaper to transfer to the removal lorry. In other words our stuff is secured to pallets at our house - shipped, stored and taken off the pallets when we have a place to live
We'd use plastic/pressed wood pallets and rachet straps.

customs will want to seperate the packages to check them - as will AQIS for quarantine. Personal effects are checked thoroughly that'd be the biggest issue.
