Default Paid Maternity Leave
I've just come across this on yahoo, Marie Claire are rallying the Government for paid maternity leave in Australia.

I know this issue comes up a lot on here, so thought it would be good if we could get some people to register support for a government-funded paid maternity leave scheme.

I never realised you dont get payed maternity leave here im pregnant but not working, i did work in the uk when i was pregnant with my daughter and the 4 mths full pay i got from my employer was a god send!!

Depends on your employer - some do offer paid maternity leave. But there is no statutory maternity pay... more info here.
