My husband had to have a pacemaker fitted almost a year ago whilst we were waiting for our visa to be granted. We were still given our visa but i am worried as the battery needs replacing every 6-10 years depending on how low it is. Would we have to pay for this privately or would we be able to claim on medicare. As he s only 42 he will need several more ops for battery replacements. Hoping to be out there next year.

My dad lives on the Gold Coast and has to have his battery replaced periodically. I think it's all covered on medicare and they get very good treatment despite all the bad press recently about Queensland Health. He has just been tested recently and they are going to replace it next year.

Thanks for that sue. Feel abit more relaxed about that now. The weather here in manchester is really windy and rainy so lucky old you. Cant wait to get there.
