You are joking surely

My son got a fine and an 'on the spot' month's ban in Victoria.

Caught speeding by a police car with a dashboard mounted radar coming towards him but several hundred yards away :scared:

You could always try direct action in protest against the speed cameras

( speeding is bad, taking mickey out of police is bad too, but this picture is funny so on balance... ) .

If anyone wants to borrow some black pen, I think there is still some ink left in it.

The lack of logic here is pretty mindboggling. But a real bugbear of mine is the number of cars with bullbars driving around suburban Oz and UK. A recent study showed that a pedestrian struck by a car at 30 mph was about 20% likely to be fatally injured; add a bullbar to the car and the fatality rate went up to about 80%. (The numbers may be wrong, but in the right ballpark.)

IMHO the bloody things should be banned in the UK and discouraged in Oz by adding a rego surcharge for vehicles registered in metroploitan areas.

Sorry to go off-topic.

Hey Vanessa! That was quick...I didn't realise I had so much influence...one post on here and they change the law in five minutes. ;)

Edit: Oops...just noticed that it was May 2005. Is that law already in effect?

Most speed-limited trucks with have some sort of sign or marking on the back to let you know.

But if you turn you ignition key slightly back then full on again without the engine stopping, on some speed limiters this will bypass it (ermmmm ALLEGEDLY!!!!)

I have lost track of the amount of times I have been travelling at 105 kph approx only to be overtaken by a truck or bus with a 100 KPH Speed Limited stick on the back.

Ridiculous

How timely, I got my photo from the Qld Police today , I was doing 111kmh on a 100kmh stretch of 4 lane highway (yes 4 lane) so I figured it was 110 limit. D'oh, of course the 110kmhs limit started 1 km up the road ;-)

100 bucks and 1 point , on a bank holiday weekend. lucky.

I figure they doctored it because of my Donut photos

Seems simple to me.
Paul

That would be good but in QLD most speed cameras are mobile, ie the Police park the vehicle wherever they like.

Haven't read further on, can probably imagine what has been said, but why do you need to know  Don't speed, you won't get clobbered, so it's irrelevant whether there is one or 100.

Just a general question. I don't speed as I normally have the kids in the car.

Where I am at the moment (Florida) , you never see any speed camera's. I've only ever saw one cop with a speed gun in the last year. Interesting the differences between the countries.

I haven't actually worked out the dilemma on this one. If you travel at the speed limit off the freeway then you're either causing frustration behind you and pulling over to the side of the road every few minutes to let the logjam clear. It's not easy to stay within the speed limit in an automatic on the hills near where I live either, I've gone through 2 sets of brakes in the last year.

hiya guys, ok to put the record straight on our dilemma! my husband does not generally speed - yeah i know i know i hear you cry we all say that, but its the truth, he is a very conscientious driver and very rarely goes over the limit, unfortunately this was one of those times, we were basically trying to overtake one of those huge juganaut lorry things on a very steep downhill slope, it was one of those roads where the two lanes merge into one at the end, anyway the juganaut sped up - obviously the downhill slope, so we tried to overtake obviously going faster than we would have normally and got caught simple as - first offence EVER!! even in the UK neither my husband nor i have ever had speeding points or fines - so you can imagine our devastation!!
speeding is not good, i agree - i simply feel the ban was somewhat harsh considering he cant get a job now for six months!!
cheers
