Question Oz Shotgun Licence

Hi

Anyone know if it is possible to get a shotgun licence for Oz in order to take along my shotgun.

Had a UK licence for 15yrs and would like to continue to do some clay pigeon shooting when there.

Can transport gun into Oz OK, but assume I will need a licence to allow customs to release the gun to me (or else they will crush it).

Only mannaged to find the usual application forms; you know, been in Oz 5yrs and know a member of parliment...etc etc!!!

Cheers peeps, Nick ("Mr Booboo")

I'm sure Booboo has told me, but I can't remember what state you are heading for. This is the link for the Queensland info, which seems to indicate (though I know nothing about guns) that you may not be able to have a licence at first, unless they will grant you a "visitors" licence. The only way of getting a definitive answer, I think, is to actually phone the police HQ in your state and speak to the firearms dept.

Contact details for QLD are Weapons Licensing Branch phone (07) 3364 4416 or write to:

simlar thread a few weeks ago concluded that it was impossible to take any kind of firearms with you unless you held a permit and were a member of a gun club. Have a look here as it gives a website address

Hi Nick,

Yes hubby wants to take his shotgun, he does clay pigeon shooting and we`re heading to Melbourne. We`re going out in November for a recce, I`ll find out when we`re over there and let you know, see where the good shooting places are too.
