All you can say is that Aus is different from UK - in practically everything!
The government always sell their education reforms as "new ideas" when we all know that many of these suggestions are common sense and are indeed the same "ideas" proposed before the previous change.

It goes without saying that you cannot judge how good education is in Aus compared to the UK as there will always be huge variation at both ends of the spectrum in both countries. School attainment and ethos is generally affected by many factors including home attitudes to education, area demographics, headteachers, prior attainment of incoming pupils etc-impossible to judge all schools in one area let alone a whole country. However, the prescribed approach used to deliver education is certainly subject to comparison.

Basically the findings for fifteen-year-olds are that both the UK and Oz kids are well above the OECD average (and WAY ahead of the USA). Oz is slightly ahead of the UK in terms of maths and literacy, while the UK is slightly ahead of Oz in science. Overall, there's very little between them.

Very interesting, thanks for the info

Here's the website address for PISA ....... http://www.oecd.org/home/0,2605,en_2..._1_1_1,00.html

And if you have older .....into education children (them not you) and they want to be able to be flexible then International Baccalaureate exams may be a consideration

http://www.ibo.org/ibo/index.cfm

I have extremely happy older children (9 and 12 when we moved) and I moved to an area in NSW because of the (best for us) state school.

If the experience your children get from emigration with you is positive .... then all other education is good....And if you really believe you are not getting the right education for your children....they you will move ....wherever!
