At least it has read legislation. See below.

You can't actually predict something after it has happened.

Yes the roads look very narrow and congested in St Kilda, Melbourne on Google Earth. No parking spaces either, on the left or right. Don't know how you cope.

You missed my point. I don't really care.

No you don't.

Like a lot of drivers in the UK, they don't really care!

You really are bitter towards the British.

Then why question that the authorities allow 10m for visibility? ;)

I'm not bitter at all toward the British. I'm British by descent myself and some of my best friends are British.

My discussion is about bad driving habits (and the law) which happen here and in just about every other country.

I like a lot of British people, but not the "stuck up" ones that think they are superior to everyone else.

I don't see the need for 10m visibility splays on a minor residential back street.

I don't either, to be honest, it's only that it tends to encroach outside that area and onto more major roads that it then becomes a problem.

What would you have then?

And have you considered other road users. If you were to set it as something like 4 metres how would this affect the ability of fire trucks to use these streets? They have much larger turning circles than cars. I suspect you've not given any consideration to driving a large truck down a street not designed for large trucks. I know from my own experience residential streets provide challenges for fire trucks why make it harder?

Personally, with my car driver hat on, I find driving around residential streets here a breeze compared to the UK.

Trouble is, who is to decide when the minor residential backstreet finish and it starts being busy enough to count as being covered by the law, start making concessions based on someones opinion you'll get conflict, hence its all roads as per the law.

But i must admit having riden motor bikes for the last ten years i'm a big advocate of keeping junctions clear, no matter how minor.
