Default Oz driving license

can anyone tell me how long you have b4 you must change your British driving license to an Australian one....?
Also has anyone noticed the lack of courtesy and general good driving on the roads here in Australia.... Don't want to seem like I'm having a pop but the standard of driving is atrocious.!!!!

If you're here on a permanent visa you have 3 months to get an aussie licence. Just ring up Vic Roads and they'll arrange an appointment at your nearest office. You don't need to do any tests - just take your ID, UK licence and money and they'll issue the licence on the spot!
I've not had too many problems with drivers here - the odd idiot, but you get that anywhere!

QLD has a three month residency rule and you should replace the licence within that time. But then in QLD you also have to sit the theory exam as well and I may only suggest reading the appropriate book first since its a bit of a nightmare if you havn't. Not in WA or NSW though.

I would just do it straight away. There is no benefit to driving on a UK licence at all. In fact it means that you cant buy a new car, have your insurance loaded appropriately and all sorts of things. Plus its the #1 good form of ID.
