Hi Phillip,

Yes I believe it was today (or rather yesterday in AUS). Haven't read through everything yet but u may want to have a look at these websites for info:
http://www.budget.gov.au/
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599...012587,00.html

What I have read so far looks good

The WA State Treasure.... Ripper will give with one hand and take more with the other. He is a joke. This state Government has an inability to run properly and its just down to the amount of tax increases Rippoff has done over the last 5 years that we have a surplus of some 2 billion and not his skills.

Correct.
I'm happy with the Fed. budget. Small tax cut for me this year with a bigger one (over $2k) next year. Solar energy is now a serious option with the increased subsidy.
Thing is, is it enough to keep KRudd and his union cronies from winning the election?

Yep, we get an extra $21 a week thanks to the tax cuts

Do they take effect immediately or at the start of the new financial year?

The lower threshold cuts come in this year and the higher ones next year.

It would appear as a family we are $24.03846 a week better off.

By my calculations, I'm up by approximately 2.5 cartons of TED a month.

John Howard ... Political genius.
