Default Oz BBC iPlayer launched

The Beeb have finally got around to launching their ill considered international iPlayer app in Australia.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/09..._iplayer_aust/

Lowlights:
  • iPad only for the moment
  • Not all the programmes, particularly not ones you may want.
  • More 'video-on-demand' than 'catch-up'
  • $AU9.49 per month or $AU89.99 annually.
In short, keep up the VPN method.

sounds like they got the memo that its the norm to overcharge in Australia

I'll use Channel BT or a VPN for my tv needs till this changes.

Thanks for the update Garry.

All I can say is "f**k that sh*t"

Either they think we are stupid or they are stupid or both.

Why bother?

Just download anything you need from your local, friendly torrent site.

I torrent most of my viewing but there is also stuff like sport that is nice to catch live.

A case in point being the F1 on Sunday, ad-free ... joy of joys.

True, to be honest the ads on One don't bother me that much, they seem to time them with a bit of thought. Unlike the NRL coverage on 9 ... <returns from break> Oh, he converted that did he? Nice to know, thanks home of the NRL ...

The OH had reserved the only digital TV in the house so the 'net coverage was welcome in any case.
