outdoor equipment
Have already searched the site but seeking some additional advice!
Our shippers have told us that the lawnmower and mountainbike will need to be clean to get through quarantine.
We have been scrubbing away and think we'll have them pretty clean finishing off with a coat of Detol.
Any tips for cleaning - we leave in 4 days and won't have time to coat in hammerite for any rust etc.
If they inspect our container and deem them to be insufficiently clean what will they do?
Will they detain them (for destroying) or fumigate them and charge us before letting us have them back?
Just want to know whether there's a possibility of losing them?
Thanks as ever for the great advice/tips!

Hiya
Is detol strong enough? I've heard that a lot of people swear by Jeyes fluid... hopefully someone else will reply with more details.

Hi Guys
The outdoor stuff must just have no soil or grass etc on them, I brought over all my gardening tools etc and just gave the blades a coat of paint to make sure.....If you use a steam cleaner or the like to get them clean you will be fine. If they do get held up they wouldn't destro them they just have to be professionally cleaned.....

For cleaning we just used a Karcher washer and then sprayed them with Jeyes fluid.
All our garden stuff and 4 bikes were passed. Interestingly they only opened the boxes that contained outdoor things.
If anything is inspected and not passed they will telephone you and inform you. You then have the decision whether to pay the fumigation fee which is usually horrendous, or have it destroyed by them.
We had a couple of Xmas decos impounded and just chose to have them destroyed free of charge.
