Thanks a lot for your post its really good to see all the pictures, they have helped me prepare for whats to come when our container come in a few weeks time.

As well as all your furniture did you take much kitchen equipment, clothes, children's toys and general junk as my OH calls it. Just wondering how much I'm going to be able to squeeze into our container.

They're only worried about large items , don't worry about stuff like clothes and DVDs

Hi Buzzy - great post. I am just negotiating a job offer in Sydney and from your post have got a much better idea of the true costs (and that the $7k offer towards relocation is probably less than 50% of these true costs!).

Incidentally, with your electricals (e.g. vacuum cleaner, kitchen appliances etc), did you bother to ship these and is it straightforward to refit AUS electrical plugs?

Hi Dave

We shipped all our electricals except our lawn mower. Changing to Oz plugs is easy if you are handy but bear in mind that we are in Victoria where it is legal for you to change your own plugs, you may wish to check whether it is in NSW, as it isn't in QLD for example.

is not legal to change your own plugs in qld?
