Yes steve, if you save target as, it gives you the option to save it as a gif. But not if you try to save it from IE. Very very weird. At least some of them are working now anyway .
well im all out of suggestions im afraid, saying that, you could double check your version of IE, mines 6.0.2800.1106CO
If it lower than this (I doubt mines that current) and your gonna stick with IE you could try updating that, you never know your luck...

My IE is 2900.2180, so its a later version. Thanx anyway for the help steve & everyone else . I'll just have to live with the quirk.

get the geeky other half to sort it out He should love fire fox if he's into linux etc *lol*

Not only do I have no idea about this problem, but MrsD very wisely will not let me touch her computer.

And I do love firefox - I have always hated IE - used to be a Netscape fan and also used Opera. Now use Firefox for everything (except those stupid bloody corporate web apps we have that will only work in IE ). As for linux - I am "into" it by necessity and am still way outside my comfort zone - but getting there.
