Unhappy Operating Theatre Technician

Hi was wondering if anyone could help. My brother is an Operating Theatre Technician with 10+ experience. Unfortunately this occupation isn’t on the skilled occupation list. Has anyone else found a way around this?

Any constructive advise would be much welcome.

I'm in a very similar boat.

I'm a Railway signalling technician and although there is a great demand for my job in australia it's not listed on the in demand skills list.

The best thing to do is make some enquiries and see if your brother can go by Sponsored skilled migration.

Thanks Fletchismint is this the way your going ?

I take it that if he can find a employer who is willing to sponsor him he will be able to pass the criteria wanted

Hi,
I'm also an ODA. It took me four years to finally get my PR visa. DIMA originally classified my profession as being a "nursing assistant" and rejected the application due to a lack of points. I then had to go through the appeals process and finally won my case after a major battle. I also received some help from the Australian association of anaesthesia Technicians who wrote a letter stating that my qualifications were recognised in Australia and that we were in demand. I can't remember the exact classification but it was in the Medical Technical Officer category and carried enough points to qualify, but that was 4 years ago.
I also had around 10 years experience when I applied, but have now given up working as an ODA.
Let me know if you need any more info and I'll have a look through my paperwork,
Regards,
Lorrimer
