Only 3 days to go ...
#1
We fly from Manchester to Perth on Wednesday, virtually two years from the moment we decided to give Oz a go.
We've had all the farewell parties, just having lunch with some friends today.
I've been (mostly) strangely calm about everything. Most things have been straightforward such as the visas, jobs, selling house to first time buyers, selling cars etc etc, .
Family have been superb, a little shocked at first but then hugely supportive. All planning to visit at various junctures.
Last night we had a last minute party at my sisters as we realised we had way too much beer in the house (?!). We have had dozens of parties there over the years but last night she did something she's never done before. When we left, after all the hugs, she came out and watched our car until we disappeared into the distance.
Then it hit me - we're about to put thousands of miles between us and the people we love the most.
We are still very keen to go but this tempers the excitement a bit. We're lucky that the family have the means to visit us when they want but we won't be able to just jump in the car to see them.
Last minute nerves I guess.
Good luck to everyone travelling and we'll check in again once we get there!

I hope you have a good journey, and at least your family are supportive.

crikey! fairly similar to us too at the moment - although we're 3 weeks off but also strangely calm.
when container arrived on Friday just got on and dealt with it, yet friends got weepy eyed at seeing it! rehomed my 2nd dog who I worship yesterday and again not emotional as I truely felt it was the right family, situation etc.
now living in empty house and actually quite like it - especially after all the clutter of recent days/weeks!
just got to deal with a few more parties and it'll probably be the same then! good luck to you all too!

Hi Christine,
good luck with the jorney and the settling-in period. Hope you still come on here and tell us how you're doing.
And then - next year - maybe we can meet in Perth in person
Take care

Good Luck to you......we are feeling exactly like you......we leave for Perth on 22nd Sep. I think all these feelings are natural (going by previous threads) but it really feels weird :scared: ...no home...all our worldly goods gone and staying with relatives......very much in limbo......but also cant' wait to go
